FAQs
Can you create a historical portrait for an address that I don't own?
Yes. In theory we can create a historical portrait for any address in the UK, providing there are sufficient historical sources available.
What happens if there aren't enough historical sources to create a written history of my home?
We will inform you of the outcome of our feasibility study within ten working days.
How long does it take?
The feasibility study takes a maximum of ten working days. Once payment has been made and a photo provided, your portrait will be dispatched within 20 working days.
How do you create the digital painting of my home?
An assigned artist will research a relevant painter and use traditional digital design tools and AI retexturing to achieve the final piece.
What sources do you use to create the written history of my home?
Our historians take a People’s History approach, focussing on the people who lived in your home in the past. This information is drawn from a range of historical sources and the historian’s knowledge and expertise.
Can I choose the artist my digital painting is based on?
Not at present, but we are exploring further customisations
Can I add details to the written history of my home, such as information about the current residents?
Not at present, but we are exploring further customisations
What format is my historical portrait presented in?
Each A3 portrait is printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper using Giclée fine art printing processes.
Is there any guidance on the photo I will need to provide?
Your photo will provide the structure and composition of the digital painting we create. You should aim to take an unobstructed photo of the property in clear weather and from an angle you find pleasing.
Can you create a historical portrait of a modern home?
The older the property, the more historical records are likely to be available to inform the written history. Homes built after 1921 are unlikely to return multiple sources. We are unlikely to be able to provide a suitable history for houses constructed after 1939.
